Wifes Account Permently Banned..Why??

So last night we go to log on and my wifes account is permently banned! The email says a character on her account was spamming exploitive web sites. Ok so was she hacked or is this a mistake? Tried calling support sat on hold for 47 minutes and then gave up. She sent in a request for an investigation, havn't heard anything at all yet. We scanned her computer for any malware and it came up clean. Only thing different on her computer was that she had to enable port 3724 to download the last patch because of the firewall. Any other help would be appreciated.

It's not at all uncommon for accounts to suffer consequences of what was done with them during a compromise.

They don't steal these to do 'nice' things with them.

That's all taken into account when we do a restoration review. What's vital at the moment is to find out how they got their hands on her information to get into the account.

It's incredibly important to make certain both her system and her email account are secure or the chances of this happening all over again are VERY high.

You may also want to look into getting an authenticator for your account. It's no substitute for good security habits, but it will help keep them out of your WoW account.

I'd recommend calling Billing then for assistance in first getting back into control of the account.

They can also send this along to start an investigation.
