Cataclysm Upgrade

Hi all,

Just a quick question as I remember *something* was done originally back when upgrade from Vanilla to TBC was around but I'm unsure of the procedure since.

My girlfriend and I are Australian and as such when Cataclysm is released at Midnight for us, its an odd 8 hours after it's already been released in America. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on copies of Wrath early so this wasn't an issue.

The problem however is so we can play as soon as the servers let us, I was looking at ordering it through the Blizzard Store (thus saving the need to go to the midnight launch etc) or however it works where we download it in advance and its ready to go. That said, I also have 2 Collectors Editions waiting for both of us at my local EB Store. Is there any way that I can order these normal editions through the Blizzard Store so I can play straight away and then later on UPGRADE to the Collecters Edition and if so how would I go about this? I am fully aware I will be out of pocket as I'd need to have purchased 4 copies of the game total however thats not what I'm concerned about.

I remember there was something set up like I said for the Vanilla -> TBC Upgrade but I'm not sure how that worked.

Yes, you could upgrade to the CE version a bit later - but you are correct, those original keys will be forever lost and unusable.
