Why is it allowed to continue?

A simple heads up....this will be a QQ post concerning the vitriol that has now taken over the [2. Trade] channel within my server.

Hi! I have a concern I would like to have addressed. For two months, I have witnessed a character in particular use vulgar language, sexual innuendos, and whatnot within the [2. Trade] channel on my server.

I personally have submitted almost a dozen tickets within the "in-game" system, and every time, I receive the same automated response from a GM that is "will be looked into, and possibly dealt with."

Well, I have sadly come to the conclusion that I believe this person in particular has not even been addressed for the issues which I am submitting the tickets for.

Day after day, upon all of my characters, I witness the filth which invades my screen. Swearing, racist jokes, homophobic, xenophobic remarks, jokes about forcible sexual encounters, spamming [2. Trade] with nasty remarks to gold-sellers...taunting them to perform deviant tasks on the said toon.

I have ignored this person. On all of my toons. Why? Because this person won't stop with the language, they won't stop with the vulgarity, they won't stop with the degrading jokes....it's sad.

It is sad to see a company promote such a atmosphere of "tolerance" for such unfounded angst, and hatred. It is sad to see my complaints go unfounded--and to only witness said character time and time again, simply become "educated on chatting etiquette."

I understand there is a profanity filter, I understand there is an ignore feature, I understand Blizzard cannot monitor said chat channels 24/7, I understand that it takes "multiple offenses" for the penalty volcano to escalate in warning status....I undestand all that.

My question is simple. How many tickets does it take to put a stop to it? How many thousands of swear words am I going to have to read through? How many racist jokes am I going to have to endure? How many times am I going to have to listen to them joke about forcible sodomy, or joke about killing people? Or joke about dead children? Blizzard...how many times?

Do the customer service representatives who receive my tickets read what my issues are? I do not think they do--because if at all...if at all they had a heart, or a soul, they would be sickened to the core to read what I have submitted within those tickets.

I don't know what to do, anymore. I want to email somebody, or talk to somebody who can, and will put a stop to it. I don't want anybody to hold my hand, and tell me everything is going to be ok...but, I simply want reassurance that I won't be bombarded day after day with nasty, nasty, nasty, comments.

Every day it happens...every day I fill out tickets. Every day I receive the same generic response.

Do I start writing down the names of game masters and add those to my emails? I will start doing that--because as a player, I believe they either did not receive training in accordance with Blizzard policy, or they are simply closing out the tickets without taking any action on the player, and immediately sending out responses saying, "Yeah, it's taken care of."

That's my qualm. It has never been taken care of. It has only gotten worse.

*sigh*

I apologize for the wall of text. Please feel free to delete this post, or administer a forum ban if necessitated on my part.

I simply needed to vent. I have submitted numerous tickets, numerous emails...yet...as I said before...where is the line drawn?

Does it boil down to the ethics and morality of the person handling the ticket?

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I am on Zul'Jin. Feel free to stop by some time, and say, "hi."

Cheers.

I certainly don't want to discourage you from making reports when you see violations, Securïty. There is a penalty volcano that is applied to offenses. For most offenses it usually starts low (although there are exceptions to that) and if they don't moderate their behavior, continues to climb.

Given it looks like only 2 of your last 7 reports deal with the same individual character - that means a lot of toons have been placed onto said volcano based on the severity of their infractions and results of our investigation. You may not be able to notice that immediately, a first offense could even just be a warning.

Thankfully, MOST players do learn and modify their behavior accordingly. Those that do not, and are reported WILL eventually get a lava bath >,<
