Professions missing :(

SInce 4.0.1 I've made two lowbie alts. On both of them I've noticed my professions tabs have been disappearing on me. Usually after zoning or logging in.

On my rogue I had Herbalism and Skinning. Was leveling both up just fine, then at one point (after a logout I believe) when I tried to pick an herb node, I couldn't and got the emote saying I needed to be an herbalist.

I checked my spellbook and it still had herbalism, but my skinning profession had dissappeared without me dropping it.

Then just now I was playing my inscriptionist and herbalist Priest and I'm having the same problem...sort of. Both my professions are still there, but the inscription tab is missing so Icant access it. I still have the milling tab though which is wierd.

Anyone else having this problem?

Have you tried resetting your User Interface, Ceer?

The following Support Article gives reset instructions based on the operating system you are using.

Yeah just followed those intructions. No change.

Would you mind if I took a look, Ceer? If you could log out of that character and let me know I'll take a look.

Oh I dont think I mentioned that the character is my level 20 Troll Priest, Weechdocta.

I had figured it out. I'm checking it out now, I'll let you know when it's Ok to log in. You can log into another character in the meantime, if you wish. :)

Alright, Ceer, it looks like you have your Inscription button back. I was able to relearn it at the trainer and you still retained your previous skill level.

The overall issue is still being looked into but hopefully yours will stick around this time. :)

For the rest of us with this problem, is there a workaround we can perform to get our skills back?
I'm sure I have cookies lying around I could bribe you with >.>

If your skill is listed on your Profession tab, and like Ceer you do not have the option to bring up your recipes you can try learning the skill again. I would only attempt this with characters that have low skill that only costs a few silver to learn.

I heard that if you learn skills in Kalimdor, you'll retain it.

That was a suggestion that we gave earlier as initial reports showed that it was working for some players. We received a report that the professions learned on Kalimdor instead of Eastern Kingdoms did not stick though so we edited the original post. :)
