I'd much rather read exactly what an ability does, rather than read something like "This ability does damage. It is a good ability to use against a mob"

The point wasn't to dumb them down. In some cases, and at some character levels, the X-Y range notes were extremely insignificant. We feel it's easier to just provide averages so that, in most cases, they're more accurate.

As other players have noted though, you're welcome to revert the change via Interface Options.

I don't care I think they're great and hilarious.

Heal: "Use this on yourself or a friend."

But what if deathwing needs a heal?!

I'd heal Deathwing if it meant we could re-release patch 4.0.1 every Tuesday. :)

I think he's actually referring to the Beginner Tooltips, which do make the tooltips extremely vague and take away the values altogether.

Oh my. This week has been great. Maybe by the time we release Cataclysm, I'll learn to slow the pace of work down just enough to finish reading what I'm replying to.

It's been a blur of an attention deficit mixed into a nice cocktail of fear and loathing. ;)
