Have disabled all addons and reset the chat several times, done /reloads, etc, and I still can only speak in guild chat. My other channels apparently don't exist, or.. I'm... already ... in them? Suggestions?

Have you actually done a proper reset UI?

The ingame command and simply disabling addons is not the same thing.

To do a full reset UI, you will want to save your addons in another spot if you wish to preserve them.

Then rename/delete or move your WTF, Cache and Interface folders while WoW is shutdown. Reboot your system.

Note, if you are running Vista make sure your permissions are set so it does not undo your changes.

More detailed instructions for different operating systems, including Macs are here.

If you are showing already in a channel, have you tried leaving and rejoining?

Q u o t e:

I get no response from the window, as if it isn't getting a command. /join trade, /leave trade, nothing works.

In your social pane, there should be a panel marked chat. If you are in chat channels, they should show up there. Special channels should show up under custom. Right clicking any of those channels should give you some options. Does none of that show?

You can get your social pane up a few ways - one is by typing /who and it sho uld popup, O usually pops it open as well by default.

Not a waste at all, matter of fact - thank you very much for this tip.

While there have been a few posts on this tonight, this is the first workaround I've seen.

Thanks!
