Transmute Cooldown Changes in 4.0.1

Ok so I log on today fully expecting that the transmute cooldowns for gems were completely removed as I had read multiple times. Well turns out the first gem I transmuted triggered a 1 hour 24 min cooldown. Ok so maybe they just made the cooldown short instead of removing it. Then after the cooldown had finished I transmuted another gem and that one triggered a 23 hour 54 minute cooldown. So yeah... broken...

Edit: This is not a bug. I'm moving the thread to General.

The cooldown functionality was changed in patch 4.0.1 and what you're reporting is not actually a bug. All profession cooldowns will now reset at midnight server time. This means if you, say, cut an Icy Prism at 11:55 p.m. server time, you will be able to cut another one at 12:01 a.m. server time (six minutes later). You will then not be able to cut another Icy Prism until 12:01 a.m. server time the following day.

The change in design is to truly make cooldowns one per day, rather than forcing players to log in at the same time every day (or staggering your schedules) to make sure your cooldowns are up.

I'm sure we'll all get used to this, but it would have been helpful for this to have been communicated a bit more clearly.

We do apologize for the late heads up. With all of the information going around for 4.01., 4.03. and Cataclysm, this one got to us a bit late.

isn't it about time to just remove the cooldown all together? we are 2 months out from cata and expanded professions.

The larger point of this change was to update the technology behind all profession cooldowns to something that makes more sense. So while it may seem like a late change for Wrath of the Lich King cooldowns, it's a prime change going into Cataclysm.
