Recruit A Friend Question

My friend had one of his old accounts deactivated (he already sent an email to address this problem) and he felt like starting over with a new account. So I sent him a Recruit a Friend. He linked the new account to the same battle.net account as the old wow account and the 10 day free trial has commenced.

My question is, if he already has the wrath of the lich king expansion for his old account, would he have to buy the expansions again for his new account? Even though they are both under the same battle.net account?

Yes. Each World of Warcraft license exists individually, so the new one set up through the Recruit-A-Friend promotion would need to be upgraded to the standard version of World of Warcraft, The Burning Crusade, and then Wrath of the Lich King. =)

What’s more, Outo, if your friend does get their initial account returned to them and would like to continue playing both accounts there would be a separate billing cycle for each account.
