Gnomeregan Quests Gone?

I just started playing WoW a couple weeks ago and have been trying to get to 75 as quickly as possible so that I could do the quests to retake the Gnome city, but all of the quest givers outside of Ironforge are gone now that I'm almost of level to do them. Did the new patch take out those quests? That seems really unfair, especially when one of the big things I keep hearing about is that phasing thing where the game world won't change until you've finished the relevant quests to make it change. :(

Correct, the efforts to retake Gnomeregan as well as Echo Isles were successful (to varying degrees) and now work is progressing on constructing new locations for the gnome and troll peoples.
