If you open your World of Warcraft\Updates folder and have WoW-3.3.0.10958-4.0.0.12911-NA-Stage-# and have 1, 2, and 3, then you're all set. The final part (around 100MB) isn't available yet, but when it is it will finalize the patch download and begin the install of 4.0.1.

If you don't have those files in your Updates folder, go to your main World of Warcraft folder and manually run the BackgroundDownloader.exe

So what download level is the final 100 MB, the set up, available, or playable stage? Basically, if I have all the background stuff, will I be able to play while downloading the last 100 MB?

If you have stage 1, 2, 3, then you get the final 100MB and you're set to login with all data intact (playable).

Um... so I should or shouldn't be seeing this, or do you mean there's a Stage 4 on the way?:

You're all set. :)

The background downloader will in fact run as though it is downloading the patch for the first time (slow speed and everything) even if you have the three stages already installed.

You should notice that it actually says "Checking" next to the progress. It's verifying file integrity, which isn't a bad thing necessarily, but probably not necessary. Necessarily.

Bashiok, what time do you think the final download to initialize 4.0.1 install will be active? Kinda wanted to be able to start it before I went to sleep.

Me too! I would expect it to be a few hours still. Go to bed now. You can get a full 8, wake up, and I'm sure still have plenty of time to patch and be ready to play before the realms are live.

That's easy to say for American type folk, us Oceanics who are here early evening wouldn't mind a more precise reply?

I don't know, it wasn't that easy. That was like... 40 words!

Well for you Oceanics you aren't about to pass out into your quaker oatmeal seeing as it's 2AM+ yonder the pond here in uprights-ville.

What were we talking about?
