Hey all,

Have had a couple guildmates recieve an 'objectionable' name form letter and were forced to change. Both had me scratching hy head on what could possibly be found objectionable about them.

We have identified a former guildy with an old guild as having talked with both characters right before logging on the day before these actions.... and there was def bad blood.... all the old members of that guild pretty much try and avoid or /ignore him... but random low level alts from his guild message us occasionally with really odd things.

We think he has hit on a unique form of griefing here.. but we obviously can't prove it. Anything we can do about this? I would like to think that there is some review on where these complaints are coming from... and whether or not these names actually violate any TOS.

Any thoughts?

One thing about Shadow Council than any other rp server Ive been on.. is that the rp community is very small... and not in your face like on some that Ive seen. Naming conventions have never been an issue that Ive seen here.

Though the naming policy still exists, Bludgeon. You may feel that the RP community is fairly small but it still is an RP realm with a specific set of rules. Regardless of the size of the community there are those who create characters on RP realms for a specific reason and though they may not be as loud in their RP activities they still expect a certain environment and want to see names that do not fit within the genre changed.

And yes, I think that it DOES matter why someone was flagged if the reporter is singling out specific people's names as a way to 'get back' at them. If my name truly ruins your rp experience.. you have my permission and encouragement to report it. If you let[Removed] run free and just report specific members of a specific guild.... its wrong.. and should not be actioned upon. Or at least taken with a grain of salt when its reviewed by a live person.

I'm sorry, Bludgeon, but motivation is not relevant nor would we be able to spend time quizzing a person who reported another character as to their reasons for the report. Either an action or name is a violation of our Terms of Use, or it is not.

Though the argument may be others are also speeding on the highway that doesn't stop you from getting the ticket if you are pulled over.
