Battle.net Account Locked Strangeness

Hello,

I received an e-mail message saying that my account was locked. The e-mail seems to be authentic based on its header information (see below, edited out). When I called support (thanks, Ryan) he had me change my account e-mail (no problem) and I'll add an authenticator on shortly.

However, one thing he said led me to do some additional looking. The rep thought that I'd received a phish, and that my account hadn't been locked, but the e-mail looks legit. My Mac is clean, and I logged in to find everything AOK, so I guess I'm still left wondering if the e-mail is legit and why I got it.

Thanks!

I did a bit of research into the account, Vichyssoise, and was able to determine the email you received was a legitimate email. I reviewed the email header information and do not show any indication that the email originated from a foreign party.

However, the reason you would have received this email is it appears as though a malicious party was able to access the account, albeit very briefly. This suspicious log in resulted in the account being locked, hence why you received the notification.

Changing the email address and adding the authenticator is a good start. Keep in mind though that the malicious party may get your new email address if your computer has a keylogger, Trojan or virus. Please take the time to ensure you have fully scanned your computer. We have several programs listed on our website that are free or at least free to try, which you can find here:

I hope this helps clear up any confusion.
