How to detect mining bots?

Hi! In my server there is an increasing number of players who decide to use mining bots. I have reported a few of them that are obvious, but there are fellow players that tell me very often "report this guy because he's a bot". I would like to contribute in "bot hunting" activities but with criteria that go beyond "I think this player is a bot".

Any advice or guide?

Ultimately, there's no real sure-fire way to know a person is a bot or not - at least, not from the player's point of view. ;)

If you have suspicions that someone may be botting, let us know! If the player is not botting, it won't hurt them any for you to send in a report. We won't action someone who is clearly not guilty. If they are botting, we may observe them for a while. Investigations concerning bots can take quite some time as we try to collect data on them in various ways to break them on a larger scale. So you may see someone who is, in fact, botting for a while after you report them. Eventually, we will take action, but it's important that we first get the information we need.

I hope that provides you some insight on the process, Perle. Thanks for taking an active interest in helping us keep Azeroth clean of bots!
