4.0.1. and 4.0.3. The Long Wait

So rumor is the release is pushed to mid Dec at least. To help confirme this is the fact there is two patches instead of the promised one to shut people up til the expansion hits. Between the disappointment of botching up the looks of the Worgen female and the idea after 5 years they still cannot shorten the length of expansion release, ( This is like; if all things go from what I read up on, the second longest expansion wait ever ) I can see why they added yet another patch to keep us happy just like they did when they botched up BC and had to add content to keep people from wandering off.

Just wanted to say thank you to the developers for allowing us to play with the Cataclysm content to some degree before the expansion hits proper and I am sorry to see the continued trend of not following through on your previous statment how you knew the last BC patch was a filler due to your mistakes and you didn't want to do that again. I suppose some things will never change.

Could you at the very least bring out 4.0.1. VERY early Oct and 4.0.3. very early Nov so alot of players have something to do if possible? (unless you are once again held back.)

I understand it's crunch time and I don't think anyone could blame you programmers and other underlings of the company. Some things are out of your control or it'd be ALOT father along than it is now. I am sorry you guys have to go through all this.

Peace.

Rumor is, huh? Well fact has it there is no release date until we feel we're ready to ship it out to store shelves. We're much less interested in shortening the length between expansions than we are making those expansions kick a little tush.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. These aren't filler patches we developed to tide players over. Patch 4.0.1 will implement nearly all systems changes necessary for Cataclysm (including class and UI changes). We've done this before every expansion to lay down the framework. Patch 4.0.3 brings about the Cataclysm, forever changing Azeroth.

This has always been the plan for Cataclysm, as we've never released an expansion quite like this one before. On the one hand, this expansion offers another increased level cap with all-new leveling and end-game content. On the other hand, this expansion is virtually rebuilding the content of the entire original game from the ground up.

Again, patches 4.0.1 and 4.0.3 are not offering filler content. These patches are to implement all of the new content and systems which do not require the purchase of Cataclysm.

That's all well and good, but we're currently struggling to keep people interested or motivated to play WoW because we've had 1 tier of content (Halion does not count, it's a diversion at best) for 10 months now, and it's looking like it'll be that way for at least another 4 to 6 weeks.

Don't get me wrong, I love this game but the content is old and we're just getting bored with it. Sure, I haven't done heroic LK25 yet, but that's due to us struggling to keep people interested in WoW more than anything else.

That's understandable. We've been working on some new content for a while now though and will let you know as soon as possible when we plan to release it.

Wait. Is this the pre-Cataclysm patch or something different?

We're developing a WHOLE new expansion. :)
