I have an authenticator, but I realize it isn't 100% fool proof. I also have a separate email address that I only use for battle.net and nothing else. I run virus scans regularly and never click on any links in emails that claim to be from Blizzard (I do get them to another email address that I rarely use and have never used for WoW anyway).
After not being able to log in, I started running full scans on my computer. First Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then Kaspersky, then AVG and then Ad-Aware. My WoW log-in screen was open, random characters typed in, while running the scan. I didn't find anything. At that point I checked the email that I use for battle.net and found one single email in my spam folder that confirmed that my password had been changed.
I changed the password for my email account and after that I had my battle.net password reset using the online form. I was finally able to log in and none of my characters had been touched. There was no sign that anything out of the ordinary had happened. The email I received from Blizzard shortly after states "that it appears as though your account has been unharmed". And I'm really impressed and thankful that they investigated the matter so promptly.
Everything seems fine now, but I still haven't found anything on my computer. However, since someone other than me changed my battle.net password, I'm still worried that there's some nasty virus or trojan on my computer that I haven't been able to detect. Something that was able to bypass my authenticator as well.
Is there any way to find out how my password was changed and by whom? Is my account still compromised? I am still very worried.
