Help merging account

I'm trying to set up another account and I am having issues.

The second account is attached to my first account. In my account name I have my first account, under account name I have a drop down box where I select the second account.

I tried doing a paid character transfer to the second account from the first account, but it told me I need to merge it with a battle.net account.

So I log in to my first account (battle.net account), select the second account, go to merge, type in the account name and password, then it tells me the account name is wrong. I typed the second account name exactly how it appears on the log in screen drop down box.

This whole process of setting up a second account is quite annoying. I originally wanted to have two separate accounts. With two different battle.net log ins. I didn't want one battle.net account with the second account in it.

I would really like some help with this. With my luck I am missing something really simple and I am over complicating this.

This will only happen if you are NOT typing in your battle.net account under the target field, Galthera. In other words, instead of typing an account name such as WoW1, you need to type in your battle.net e-mail address. You will then be prompted to choose the destination account.
