Lost and Found...

To save myself some typing I'm including a portion of a letter I sent off to [email protected]. I'm not sure if I directed the letter to the proper place or not. I excluded information that was in the letter about account names and IDs. Am I posting here in the event that the original was sent to the wrong department and will just be ignored.

Howdy,

I hope you have a big cup of coffee and a comfortable chair as this is going to be a long story...

I had a World of Warcraft account years ago. At the time family and work took a priority and I cancelled my account. Recently an old friend contacted me and inquired if I would be interested in playing WoW, Things had changed and I now had the time to spare so I accepted his RAF invitation and off we went. A few weeks into my game play I had a minor issue with my account which resulted in me calling your 1-800 number to get a question answered. Over the course of the conversation with a very helpful and professional service person named Matt A. I had mentioned that I had an old account but so much time had passed that I no longer remembered the account or password info. Matt asked a few questions, asked me to hold on a minute and then came back and said he had found the account and after answering a few questions including the answer to a security question for the old account he decided that I was indeed the owner of that account. Matt informed me that he could attach my old account to my new Battlenet account and reset my password at which time I would have access to the account again. At that time Matt informed me that the account had been banned back in 2007 but could not find the reason. He said he would escalate the issue to another department and after they reviewed the account they may or may not remove the ban. When I left WoW back in 2007 my account was current and in good standings so I wasn't sure what was the cause of the account ban but figured it was worth a shot to try and recover my old character.

Low and behold I got home from work yesterday and had an e-mail waiting from me from Blizzard stating that the account was once again in good standings and I would be able to access it after paying the monthly fee which I promptly did and then logged in to the old account. Wow was I shocked. The account now had a total of 28 characters spread across various realms most of which were level 10 or below, To the best of my recollection I only had one character on the account. Back then I barely had time to play one toon let alone 28. Alas, My character had been stripped of everything including all his soul bound gear, he had nothing to speak of in the bank and it looked like his trade skill in mining had been replaced with enchanting.

My question for you is as follows... Is there any way to restore my original character to his once former glory? My goal would be to restore my character, upgrade my new account to at least the first expansion which I understand I have to do before I could have my old toon transfered to that account (Hate to lose my RaF bonus) and my current realm and possibly switch factions as he is a Horde and I currently play Alliance. Then delete the old account as I have no need or ability to play the game on two different computers at the same time. Is any of this possible? I realize there will be a cost to all this $25 for server transfer, $30 for faction change, I'm not sure the cost of moving the character from one account to the other but I assume it would be in the same area as the other two charges. If my old character's equipment and gold can't be restored (I honestly don't recall what he had but I'm sure it was appropriate for his level and I know he wasn't naked) If restoring his items isn't and option then I guess I would be better off giving up on the old character and just canceling the old account. If none of this is possible are you able to at least transfer the expansion key to my new account as this would at offset the $14.95 I paid only to find out my old character had been stripped. Any suggestions?

I've been away from the game for over 3 years and not sure what I can expect but I have a feeling I'm in for a let down after reading some of the other posts.

Heya Delna,

Unfortunately, from what I can see a specialist did investigate your petition regarding the compromised that happened a while back and responded with unable to restore.

They were able to compensate your character and provided a gold amount to help you get back in the game. I do apologize that they will not be able to reverse your character as to how you left it, we simply just do not have the data anymore.

But I swear I had a bazillion gold... <grin> That's fine I honestly don't remember what I had for dinner last Friday let alone What my character had in the bank over three years ago. I just though there might be some record . No loss, I'm sure I'll find new equipment in no time. Thanks for the quick response as I was dreading getting home from work and finding an email that stated nothing at all could be done. A minor survival kit is better than fighting for equipment naked. BTW all the contact I've had with customer service to date has been positive and helpful. Have a great one...

Delna...
He's back and well rested!
You're welcome! I am glad you had a positive experience and welcome back!

Heya Anone,
Q u o t e:
you are very lucky you even got what you got. i had an account get banned in 2007 as well. i had proof that i was DEPLOYED for the military at the time in question but Blizzard still won't give me my account back. I have called and called and now they won't even take questions on my account anymore. i didn't get any compensation either. How's that for great customer service!
