A question for the blues.

So, on another account I had a nice little chat with a GM yesterday, they were very nice and kind to me but expressed something that got me thinking!

Do the blues on here think they have a better relationship with the customers than the GM's that handle tickets? This is a serious question. Do you think that posting here and having that 1 on 1 interaction (Despite it being in a public place) and those non-macroed responses is what gets you the 'thank you' threads?

The GM I spoke with expressed how much they prefer actually interacting with customers as opposed to answering e-mail. So I started to think if all GM's had the same opinion, and why it was that in-game GM's got slammed so much despite the work they do, and why the GM's who post on these forums get a lot of open praise.

So what this boils down to is this: Do you think these one on one interactions are more beneficial in some situations as opposed to macroed responses of 'we'll look into it and take the appropriate action?' (Not that it's not something that's useful for things like 'I forgot to loot this' or 'Gave this item to the wrong player.' And things like that.)

I'm curious to know the blues opinion on this, not necessarily anyone elses though as any other you as any other, are free to state your opinion on a public board.

(I felt this was appropriate to be here, as it is a CSR based question and not really something that belongs in a 'suggestion' forum as it's a question.)

Heya Vandrilla,

Q u o t e:
Do the blues on here think they have a better relationship with the customers than the GM's that handle tickets? This is a serious question. Speaking for myself only, our praises are public because we are on a public forum. Our interactions with players are one on one, but under the public eye and also with discussion from player to player.

Game masters receive tons of praises mostly by emails sent here wowgmfeedback-us@blizzard.com, that are directed to our management. We do see occasional thanks here and there for our game masters on the forums and we then advise them to send their feedback to wowgmfeedback-us@blizzard.com for visibility.

Good relationships with a customer as a game master can be slightly different, as I have been one in the past, I remember having good conversations with players back then. They may use macros for the basics, but at the same time they will talk to a player as a person when they need to.

The only difference here between the two, is that the chances of them talking to the same player again is rare, which is why it may be slightly harder to maintain a relationship with players. They talk to tons of players a day.

As for the forums here, we can talk to players on a regular basis, if they choose to visit us time and time again. -Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ
