Inactive character naming policy.

For those at Blizzard,

Could you please consider the creation of an inactive character naming policy where as an account, being inactive for a set period, perhaps 1 year, perhaps longer, that the names on the characters of those accounts be returned to the pool of available names for new character creation.

Its hard to see a name you desperately want on your server, only to see it taken by a mid 30's lvl alt that hasnt logged into the game since before the armory was created.

Please consider this.

As the others have indicated, Xoddam, we do have policies in place that cover such requests. Though the specific requirements to free up a name are kept internally and are not currently publicly listed, if you would like to request a name be made available please submit an in-game petition and inquire.

Edit: the above post doesnt make sense because when you quit the game or unsubscribe to paying it lets you know that you character wont be deleted etc and that blizz has no intention of releasing characters. I dont see why they would ever free up a name for anyone period.

We do not delete characters but releasing a name does not require the deletion of the character. Keep in mind though that these requests are very very conditional and in the majority of cases a name will not be released.
