So today my account has been locked due to suspicious activity. I got no email stating why, so I had to look it up online. Turns out in order for me to get unlocked, I had to change my password. So I did. My question is, why? In 10 years of online gaming I've never been hacked. Yet I come back to wow for about a month, and you guys are saying I need to do all this before playing again? Is it really possible I've downloaded a keylogger somehow? I've never downloaded anything I haven't seen many others download. Besides, my max level is a 47. Only reason I can think of, is that a week ago I reset my router, which changed my IP, so perhaps that caught eye to blizzard and you guys made me change my password for that?

My questions are:
1. What was the cause of this? As I got no email stating why.

2. What can I do to prevent this from ever happening again?

Btw I did post like 6-7 stacks of mageweave cloth on AH at once, if that made it look like a golder farmer took my account? -shrugs-
Unlikely, Drakkarn. This security lock is often timed triggered in order to secure your account. Based on what I can see your login history looks pretty stable.

If you continue to experience these security locks, I would recommend contacting our billing and account services as they may be able to help prevent these type of locks. Keep in mind that lowerping type services are not supported.

Okay thanks. So by what you've seen, it doesn't look like someone got onto my account - or - was trying to?
Correct! All activity appears to be normal. Running a virus scan and getting an authenticator for your account though would not be a bad idea.

Still not sure what you mean by "security lock is often timed triggered in order to secure your account
If someone were to try and log in to your account, we have security implementations that would detect such behavior and restrict access to the account, hence a security lock. This feature would lock the account for "suspicious activity" giving you an opportunity to secure your computer and reset the password.
