Account Restoration

I'm posting here with my brothers account as mine I currently can not log into.

So here's my situation, nearly a year ago I stopped playing WoW, I decided a needed a break from it. With the release of Cataclysm approaching I figured it would be good to start up again, attempting to log into account management to add game time it stated my details where incorrect. At first I thought I had just forgotten my password, having not logged in for a long time, so I go to reset my password.

I wait about 30minutes for the email to arrive but nothing shows up, this got me really worried so I checked my main character (I only have one level 80), and it says that I am on a different server with different trade skills.

Earlier this year I had to reformat my computer as it had some pretty malicious software running on it stopping me from doing anything, after the reformat I fully updated all my drivers and everything else I could and installed a firewall and anti-virus software, the same as we use at work so I know it's good.

I figured that was probably about the same time as when I had my account details taken, as I still liked to view forums etc logged in. So I looked around and found similar cases of accounts being hacked/phished etc and saw a link that was to instructions on how to restore an account.

I followed the instructions, printed out the form filled it in with my details and my drivers licence, and emailed it to account administration and received an automated reply that it may take several days for a response. That was on the 17th Sept, 19 days later, and no response yet. How long does it normally take to get a response?

Edit: I have gone through all my received emails from blizzard and there is none that say anything about changes account details, I presume my email was also accessed and had the password changed about the same time as my computers reformatting as I had someone attempt to access my paypal and change the details then.

TL;DR, 19 days seems a bit excessive for a response, though it may take a while as my account was compromised nearly a year ago. How long should it take?

Q u o t e:
I presume it takes around 100days for a response of any kind and therefore I shouldn't bother playing wow.

These forums are intended for players to discuss the game with other players and although the CS and Technical Support forums are moderated we are simply not able to get to each and every thread. Those of us who moderate this forum, Boatman, try to reply to what threads we can but this is by no means a petition system.

To this end, we have provided what advice we can in the form of stickied threads which contain many of the issues that are commonly experienced.

For example the following thread covers account recovery:

Are you using the e-mail address that was previously registered to your account, Boatman? If so, can you give me the name and realm of a character on the account you are attempting to recover? I'm not certain what I'll be able to tell you but I'll take a look.

I'm not entirely certain why you did not receive a response, Boatman, I've sent up an inquiry though and you should hopefully hear back within a few days. From what I can see this appears to be a fairly complex issue.

Good luck, Boatman.
