Account Hacked

One of my friend's email accounts got hacked the other day, he changed his password as soon as he saw the notice, but apparently they'd already found that account was used for Wow, and had his Account password changed.

My friend's account wasn't even active at this time, and they apparently paid for a month and logged in. My friend went to www.battle.net/security and followed the instructions there, and changed the email address associated with his battle.net account to something different, but he's worried about damage to any of his characters.

They look OK right now, but he's been inactive for a few months and doesn't remember exactly how much gold he had, etc. He'd like to get his characters restored prior to his account becoming active again, is this something that can be done? I realize I'm a 3rd party here, but felt obliged to post... thanks!

It depends on how long your friend has been inactive, Hollow. Our logs only go back so far, so if it's been an extended period of time, we may not be able to verify losses.

If he feels anything is missing, he is welcome to submit a petition to our in-game support (though if he used our account recovery web form, there would already have been a petition placed on his behalf for this investigation). Please keep in mind that no restoration is guaranteed, but our Game Masters always try their best to return what they are able to verify. >^.^<

In the mean time, I would recommend your friend try to find the source of his compromise. I've provided some information below that he might find of great interest!
