So I've been thinking to myself.. I have been paying to play World of Warcraft for about a year and a half and Blizzard has been taking one day every single week to do maintenance. This maintenance occurs for about 7-8 hours usually and I do not feel that I am getting what I have payed for.

If you don't want to do the math, I'll do it for you. There are 52 weeks per year, meaning that there are 52 Tuesdays per year at least. 52 x 7-8 hours = 364-416 hours. That means that for every year anybody plays this, that is roughly 390 hours that you are paying for in which you are not getting anything. A bit of time stealing in my opinion..

I understand that Cataclysm is coming out and they are basically saying that you can play throughout the maintenance schedules at your own expense and whatnot, yadda yadda. I just want to know if I am ever going to be compensated for paying for Blizzard for taking my money away. Am I ever going to get gametime back that has been stolen from me or is Blizzard just going to ignore the fact that they are taking 42,900,00,000 (almost 43 BILLION) hours away from its customers.

We need to have maintenance weekly in order to keep the game running for you to play. I apologize that it takes some time away from the game, but is something that is necessary. If we didn’t have maintenance nothing would ever get fixed, you wouldn’t be able to play new content, or make changes that are needed to the game. This is why we have maintenance.
