I queued up for H-FoS today in hopes of finally getting my Needle-Encrusted Scorpion. I spent the past week or so farming both H-FoS (well, as much as I could, anyway) and normal ToC to try to get either NES or Banner of Victory, neither of which I had even seen before except once, a very long time ago.
Anyway, we get to Devourer and wipe. Okgr8. We all run back, second attempt. Things are going smoothly until the healer drops like a rock due to Mirrored Soul (hey, I stopped attacking, blame the other DPS >.>), but we killed him nonetheless, and lo-and-behold! NES finally dropped. The Paladin tank rolls a 37, I roll a 36, and the DK rolls a 27. GG.
To make it worse some plate boots also drop, which the Paladin also rolled need on, and won. For some reason, though, he left before rolls for NES were finished, so even though he won he never received it, and it was just laying there on the dead head of the boss. The DK and I stand there dumbfounded for a few moments before finally disbanding group.
So I put in a ticket to a GM and explained what happened, making sure to include what we rolled and also giving him the name of the Paladin. I mean, to be fair, he won the roll, so I wouldn't mind if the GM gave it to him. I just didn't want to see it go to waste! I mean, it's such a nice trinket and it rarely drops. I wrote up my ticket and waited for about an hour while doing dailies and such, but then I had to go to class and just logged off.
I get home from class and log on to see my ticket is still there. After about 30 minutes a GM whispers me while I'm in H-HoR and tells me that he checked it out and that the Paladin did indeed win the roll. However, he told me that since the Paladin didn't put in a ticket to claim it, he would give it to the next-highest roll, which, of course, was me. Awesome!
To be honest, I didn't know if they would do something like that. If anything I thought they would automatically loot it to the Paladin since he won it fair and square, but I was pleasantly surprised when I was proven wrong. Thanks for making my day, Mr. GM!
