"Special" character names and TOS violations

Extended ASCII characters are allowed, and have been for several years. When non-English clients were added to the game, these character sets were permitted.

Now, of course, that can create problems with reporting them.

I'm posting on my DK alt, to give you an example.

Let's say you didn't know what the alt code for a lowercase i with umlauts was.

If I had said something in chat, you could shift-click on my character's name to paste it into your ticket.

You could also simply describe it as "Faithless with two dots over the i". Combined with a race and class (belf DK), that should be sufficient information for the GMs to track the character down.

Also so many of these so called "names" violate Blizzards TOS because it gets around the censorship.

If you find a name that you believe is inappropriate, Lilitheve, please submit an in-game petition and report it. Our In-Game Support staff will be happy to look into your report and take any and all appropriate actions for any violations found.

Blizzard please take the time to remove the use of special characters from the game. I am sorry to all those who's originally spelled names are no longer available are not but theres millions of names in the world that are not spelled with special characters.

You are welcome to post in our Suggestion forum with your feedback, Lilitheve, but as some of the others have mentioned simply using those characters is not generally considered to be a violation of our policies.
