Blizzard Naming Policy: Pointless and useless

The naming policy has clear and definitive rules, according to what I have read. Why is it then, when I report a name repeatedly, that is clearly against the naming policy, I either get ignored or told that the name is just fine and isn't breaking the rules, or 'isn't quite bad enough to be changed'.

What kind of crap is this? The rules clearly say what is and isn't allowed. there shouldn't be ANY gray area, period.

The most frequent offenders have names that break the following rules:

* Racial/Ethnic/National
* Extreme Sexuality/Violence
* Sexual Orientation
* Obscene/Vulgar

* Real World References
* Contain "Leet" or "Dudespeak"
* Partial or Complete Sentences (Does not apply to Guild or Arena Team Names)

I've reported countless of these types of names and it is on a VERY rare occasion, that any of them get changed.

I was in a BG the other day with a warlock named '[Removed]' not only is his name against at least 2 rules, he was being extremely offensive and racist in BG chat. I reported both his actions and his name, and of course his name still hasn't been changed even though I've reported it 4 times now.

Yesterday I reported someone with the name [Removed], or [Removed], can't remember which, and I was told that there was basically nothing wrong with that name. I re-reported and it looks like I finally got a competent GM because he's going to look into it further. Why didn't that first GM do something about it? Don't all the GMs get the same training? Do you guys hire the same type of people that 'think it's cool' to parade around with offensive and ridiculous names?

It would really do a lot toward fixing the mess that is the wow community if you guys would crack down harder on names that clearly violate the policies of Blizzard.

Understand, Avenom, that our goal is to remove obviously inappropriate names first and foremost. Other types of names are more subjective and depending on the realm type may not be considered a violation of our policies.

When selecting a name it is important to keep in mind the various categories for if you choose a name that falls into one of those it may be changed, our policies do not indicate that it will be changed.

Please keep in mind that the final decision on if to change a name is at Blizzards absolute and sole discretion.

Yes, you have reported that character a few times along with one other. Unfortunately in none of your petitions did you provide the realm that the character resides on. When reporting a name from a Battleground or Cross-Realm instance please include the realm that the character is on. Our In-Game Support staff can only go off of the information in the petition, they are not generally able to search through all of the realms in a Battlegroup for the character you may be referring to.

If you would like to provide feedback regarding your interaction with our In-Game Support staff, Avenom, the appropriate location to do so would be through Wowgmfeedback-us@blizzard.com.
