Character Hacking

I have reported a character recently, using the 'Talk to a GM' button. The character I am reporting was flying around at impossible speeds, underneath the world (I would catch his name popping up from time to time as he would loot herbs).

I received an automated, cut-and-paste response saying the character was reported to the bot team, and thanking me for my concern.

Not to try and make my self seem important, but I clicked the 'Talk to a GM' button, because I was hoping that they would actually look at the matter first hand. The character is still continuing to hack, and I fear, that the 'bot team' not get to the matter before this character sells his/her/its ill gotten gains and further destroys the economy of the game that I have come to love.

Hi Siembe,

Let me help you clear up some confusion.
Q u o t e:
Why can't the player just report these incidents directly to the bot team. It seems to me that these reports do nothing other than clutter up the already overburdened GMs with issues that they apparently can not take any direct action on.
You are able to report them by sending an e-mail directly to [email protected]
Q u o t e:
I personally have reported four 'bots/hackers' in the past two days
Although a Game Master may not contact you directly, your report is very much appreciated.
Q u o t e:
Now this character has his account hacked and loses their money and items, which in turn is sold to another player, and so on.
Account compromise reports are handled differently than bot reports. Indication of a compromise account typically consist of items being sold to a vendor, items being removed from a guild bank or in some cases used solely to advertise gold selling sites. If you believe an account is compromised, please report it as a compromise.
Q u o t e:
I have been told that their are methods in place that detect 'bots' and hacks, but obviously from the overabundance of bots in Sholozar Basin/Wintergrasp and the hacks that take place in major cities advertising their services (I'm sure you know which I refer to), that these defenses are at best inadequate.
It has been been previously stated that we are looking into better and more permanent solutions for these type of bots.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help clarify.
