Random dungeon broken/flawed

For the past several months, whenever I queue for random dungeons, the only instance that comes up is Heroic Culling of Stratholme 9/10 times. I was speaking to a GM the other day about this issue, and durring the conversation, CoS came up as my random eight times. I left each time I got the instance. He said "you do seem to get it a lot" and that nothing was broken about it. He said it was just due to the people on my battle group. Yet it does not happen on any of my other characters, around the same level of gear. I have to queue with friends or guildies if I want to actually get a different dungeon. I would like to speak to a specialist about the issue.

*edit*
some statistics of kills
Mal'Ganis - 56 kills
Anub'Arak - 32 kills
Gal'Darah - 27 Kills
Cyanisgosa - 24 kills
King Ymiron - 21 kills

This is my top 5 bosses killed for heroics. And this is just the ones Ive stayed in. If I actually stayed and completed CoS, these numbers would be much further apart.

There's a lot of excellent information that has been touched upon in this thread already, Slania. So many factors go into which dungeon you get out of the 'Random' queue - it can feel less 'Random' and more like telling the system, "Oh, I don't care which I get, so just put me in the first available."

Are your other characters pure DPS? Aspiring shield-using tanks have much to gain out of a Heroic Culling of Stratholme instance and may be less likely to drop that instance than other DPS might, making it a more likely fit for another DPS than another Tank. What loot drops in an instance could be a factor as to what kind of characters stay in an instance versus those who drop out and try for another.

Gear can be a factor (people with higher levels of gear have more to choose from, so they may land in another instance), what instances are requested by those who want specific instances can be a factor (people who queue as random may fill in for those who want a specific dungeon), previous day locks can be a factor (you are more likely to get put into an instance you have not yet done that day than one you have). In the rare event that everyone in the queue all fit the same criteria, a totally random instance might be selected. There is so much I could not possibly touch on it all.

To say it is totally random isn't quite true - factors are taken into account, which a purely random system wouldn't do. But a purely random system would be just as likely for you to get an unlucky streak as one that does take things into account, because, well, it's random. ;) That can definitely be hard to accept - I personally have a beef with Gun'drak on my tanking toon, and one of my pure DPS seems to get Violet Hold a lot instead. Other things will come along - might just take a few tries.

There are factors taken into account, Slania. Unfortunately, that does not mean they are controllable factors. There is no saying as to exactly what is taken into account on a given dungeon run.

In this sense, it *is* random. You will be given an instance picked "at random," and if there is one you do not wish to have, you would need to queue for specific instances instead.

The drake isn't really meant to be something you 'aim' for, Slania. It is a potential perk for queuing into Occulus when using the Random Dungeon option.

If you feel that there should be a change, you are most welcome to post in the Suggestion forums regarding it.
