Odd Email - legit from batte.net

I received the following email. It is a legit blizzard email, and originated from the blizzard servers according to the headers. All of the links contained were examined and the html actually points to blizzard sites.

The problem, its addressed to someone other than myself. This came to one of my gmail accounts, the odd thing however is that this is NOT the email account I use for my battle.net login. It looks like someone attempted to change their login name to be my gmail account for some odd reason.

I suspect that the account may have been compromised. I do get some gold seller spam and phishing attempts occasionally on this gmail account, so its obviously known as a valid email address by the gold sellers. But according to the gmail login history my account has not been accessed by anybody other than myself. So why they attempted to use my gmail account as the login is perplexing if they cannot get into it to verify the change.

For the GM staff - My gmail account has the same prefix as the battle.net login for this account that I'm posting on but is @gmail.com instead of the other @sitehere.net.

What should I do with this? Forward it somewhere?

Q u o t e:

Hello <somebody's name - not mine>,

Blizzard Entertainment has recently received a request to change the e-mail address used to log in to your Battle.net account. The e-mail address <my gmail account - NOT my battle.net account tho> was specified as the new username for your Battle.net account. In order to finalize and authorize the e-mail address change, please click the Confirmation Link below. The update will NOT be completed unless you click that link.

Confirmation Link: <Confirmation link removed, legit battle.net link though - dont want anybody confirming the email change on this person>

If you no longer wish to make the above change, or if you did not initiate this request, please disregard and/or delete this e-mail. Please note that this link will expire in 7 days.

If you're experiencing difficulties finalizing this request, click here<legit battle.net hrml link> to access contact information for the Blizzard Billing & Account Services team.

Hi Sunilatk,

You would only get this type of notification if someone logged in to their battle.net account and manually entered your e-mail. My only thoughts are:

1. Someone has a similar e-mail and mistyped it when they were trying to change their e-mail.
2. Someone has access to your e-mail and is trying to use it as a dummy account.

Can you forward the e-mail and all the header information to hacks@blizzard.com. I might be able to check out the e-mail and the header info. Make sure you change the password to your e-mail account.
