Is Breaking News Broken?

Does Blizzard make any legitimate attempt to have Breaking News (at the logon)?

Burning Legion has been down for quite some time, but no mention is made of it (or an ETA on it being up again for use). Just this mention of battlegroups.

No one tracks or related to battlegroups. People follow realms. In the past individual realms/servers were identified, but now there's just this battlegroup stuff.

Moreover it just said people may be DCd or experience latency. BS. You can't get on at all.

Generally, when an issue appears we first evaluate the situation to see what needs to be done. Breaking News updates are usually used for something major that could possibly cause a good amount of downtime. So when we are not too sure about the downtime we first post a sticky about the issue on our forums. Then if it looks like the issue is taking longer than expected we can request for the breaking news to be updated. I was just about to request for the breaking news to be updated, but it looks like the servers are starting to come back up slowly.
