Question about being banned.

My account was just banned randomly, I left my computer to take my dog outside and when I came back I got an email saying my password was changed, then it said that I was banned for three hours. Here's what the email said:
Q u o t e:
This suspension happened because one or more characters on the account were identified exchanging, or contributing to the exchange of, in-game property (items or gold) for ""real-world"" currency. This exchange process negatively impacts the World of Warcraft game environment by detracting from the value of the in-game economy.

Problem is, I don't buy gold or sell gold. I'm a pretty straight A player. Why did this happen? Also if this is against forum rules could someone tell me.

Can you give me the name and realm of a character on the account in question, Blightme? I can take a look.

In this case, Blightme, it looks like the category would be a better description of the activities and not what followed, I am sorry that the messaging was not clearer.

It seems that over a 2-3 hour period you or someone on the account invaded the trade channel on two different characters and two different realms. The language and context used not to mention the behavior displayed was not appreciated by the denizens of either location, and would definitely be considered a violation of our Terms of Use, so reports were submitted and as you see, action taken.

Now this is a minor action, admittedly, it is entirely possible this is all that will happen regarding this behavior. It should be noted though if reports were submitted for some of the more egregious chat violations further action may be taken.

My advice would be to first, if you are the one who did this going forward watch the language you use within this Teen Rated game. If it wasn't make sure you check your system and change your password and do not share access to your account with anyone.

The second is, again if this was you, don't troll a channel. It may seem common place now a days but the tolerance for the behavior is waning and those who are tired of this behavior are working with the tools that they have available to take the channel back.

If you wish to dispute the actions that were taken you are welcome to write to our Account Administration department though I hope I was able to provide you wish some insight regarding this matter and you understand what happened and why.

Good luck.

I KNOW EXACTLY WHO DID IT! Oh he's going to get it.. Thank you Vrakthris. <3

I should note that your characters will likely be unable to speak for up to 24 hours once you are able to get back in game.

Glad I could help solve the mystery. Stay out of jail. :P

Folks, the matter has been addressed, running in with your finger wagging after the fact usually only serves to put people on the defensive, though advice is appreciated please watch the tone. :)

The OP is aware of what happened which was the reason for the post, regardless of if you believe the after story is not really relevant. If the story is true then several lessons are learned and I'm certain the OP will take precautions against mischievous siblings in the future. :)
