Account Closed

My brother was recently hacked by a gold seller and all of his equipment and gold was gone. He did send a ticket for a GM and received his gold and items back.

Just today though, he received and e-mail that his account was closed for exchanging real life money for gold (or something like that). The e-mail also said that even if it was a third party doing these actions, his account is still liable.

He told me that it did not say anywhere in the e-mail that he could retrieve his characters, etc.

My question is is if there is any way to recover anything that was on his account?

This is purely from my curiousity because after being hacked and having his account closed he is getting tired of it. It's really a shame too because he was lvl 79 going on 80 today! : /

Actually, that sounds rather like a phish.

Are you certain that email was genuinely from Blizzard? Looking at the internal routing headers on the email should confirm that or not.

I texted him now asking for any details he can give me on who sent the e-mail, but he is probably in bed by now. I'll see what I can get tomorrow.

Always ALWAYS check the sender of an email. That isn't done in the normal body, anyone can put anything they like in a FROM spot.
