Authenticator Removal Question

Greetings,

My account was hacked a couple of months ago after I fell for a phishing scam. Eventually my account was restored to its former condition and everything is fine.

However, I noticed recently that the "Core Hound Pup" pet was on my characters, and I have never purchased or added an authenticator to my account. Clearly the people who hacked my account added an authenticator, and I am wondering if it was also removed during the restoration of my account?

I now have total control of my account, and I would assume that the authenticator that the hacker added was removed, but I don't know anything about authenticators, and I wanted to make sure that my account is not still at risk of being hacked again?

If you never found the original source of how these people obtained your information, you are actually at HIGH risk of this happening again.

That corehound should eventually disappear on it's own. You wouldn't have access to the account if it were still present - that's a sure sign one was added at some point.

I'd recommend a complete security sweep of your system, making sure your email is secure (also, check it's not been forwarded), and adding an authenticator of your own.

This sticky may be useful.

You may also want to look into getting an authenticator for your account. It's no substitute for good security habits, but it will help keep them out of your WoW account.
