Looks like this was indeed compromised - and that he never merged to Battle.net. They, however, did merge it.
I'd recommend the most expedient way to go forward on this is for your friend to contact Billing - get back into control.
He does need to make a Battle.net account for this to be merged to, and I'd recommend doing that prior to contacting Billing just to save a bit of time.
Most of this looks to have happened this month, I'd recommend following up on this just as quickly as possible. Time can be an enemy of restorations. The sooner this is sorted out, the better the final outcome is likely to be.
