Question about RAF

i recently upgraded my trail account to an actual account, minus the xpacs, filled in the info clicked accept when it tells me it costs $20 etc, but my toon on that account still cannont talk in trade or be traded items,

Is this just because it takes awhile to register? or do i have to add a subscription to be able to trade and talk in /2, i thought just upgrading the account was enough and i didnt have to add a game card or whatever, ty for help in advance
