Why cant I fly

so I have been playing on the burning crusade and got a flying mount. Which lets me fly in the crusade, but when I go over to the Lich King I cant even mount my wind rider.

I later purchased another rider in the LK and still cant mount it anyone got any info on this

To fly in Northrend one must purchase Cold Weather Flight.
