Emails as Battle.NET ID's = Big Mistake

As I type this, a friend of mine's 80 hunter is online. Someone has compromised his account, and is selling everything on every toon on his account. He hasn't played in months because his wife's mother has been very ill. I realized almost immediately what was happening because I've seen it happen to 2 others in the last month.

I do thank you for the report, and the petition, Gorzu, although I would kindly thank you to watch both your tone and your language both here and in petitions. Our Game Masters work very hard to help every player and truly do not deserve such abuse.

You are correct, they were on the account so I asked it be locked down. This should not be difficult to get restored but the hard part may be finding the source of the compromise so it doesn't happen AGAIN.

As mentioned above, no matter your opinion of Battle.net you can do something you never could before....namely, change your account name by simply changing your email.

If you have a way to contact your friend, please ask them to check their email for further instructions on this.

Oh let's talk authenticators. I know 2 individuals who have ordered them and never received them. Yet there doesn't seem to be a customer service path to address this. They've called, emailed, petitioned in game. Yet there doesn't seem to be anyone who can help them, or cares to.

Oh and how long does one have to have a WoW account before they get an authenticator for free?

Some of the mobile apps are indeed free - the keyfob is passed along below our cost.

Billing would be the folks to contact about any order from our store that seem to have gone amiss.

Again, you are relaying things as told to you 2nd hand. I would ask you keep your theories and statements to firsthand information instead of just passing along information that may or may not be accurate as stated to you.

The biggest thing he needs to do is find the source of how they got his information.

No matter what we do in a restoration, if the source that allowed them in still exists, they WILL be back.

Sadly, that you can pretty much count on.

Pass along the link below if you would - he may find it helpful.
