Are GM's even allowed to do this?

looks like a private server. Official GM's wouldn't do that unless they were getting fired, or looking to become as such.

That and you can't even whisper a gm unless the explicitly let you.

Folks, as Eilethalua has said this can sometimes happen when a Game Master needs to take direct control over a character such as when providing certain restorations or requests for assistance. Before they log out if they do not hit the appropriate buttons it sometimes leaves an indicator on the character that shows that character as a Game Master.

These character do not actually have Game Master abilities, they only are tagged that way. The person who experienced this should have submitted a report and had the tag removed immediately instead of attempting to be funny. The matter was resolved and the character has been returned to normal.

If a Blizzard employee actually pulled that, even as a humourous stunt, their senior will find out and address that internally.

Indeed. In most cases a Game Master will only speak directly to an individual player. They rarely will speak in a public channel. Though it does happen it doesn't happen often.

Sorry for the confusion folks.
