Back after 1 1/2 years - gear & gold gone :-(

I reactivated my account in preparation for the upcoming expansion. When I logged in I noticed my gear & gold was gone. I contacted billing and they helped me get access to my account back and said it looked like someone got into my account and used it to farm. They told me to contact a GM in game and they could help me with my missing items/gold. I logged on and left a message to GM ingame but had to log back off to go to work. Did I do this correctly? Anything else I need to do?

You do not need to be online for this to be looked into, Mystic.

Now, exactly what can be done in your particular case given the age - we'll just have to see. Age is an enemy of restorations. We keep exhaustive records, but they are finite. This looks like it all happened nearly a year ago.

I do see your petition in queue, let's see what our Game Masters might be able to do to at least help get your characters into a playable state.

In the meantime, finding out how someone got hold of your information is vital. Making sure both your system and email are secure is imperative to keep this from repeating.

I'd also highly recommend you think about adding an authenticator as an additional layer of security.
