Rumor about names under level 10

I heard a rumor that when Cataclysm comes out if you have a name reserved on a toon under level 10 and if someone wants that name and you are under level 10 that you lose your name?

Can you clarify if that rumor is true or not please?

It is most certainly a rumour to some extent, Favorite.

Due to the length of time World of Warcraft has been out there are a number of names that have been taken and the characters have simply been forgotten about or the accounts remain inactive or otherwise unplayable (i.e. closed accounts). If someone requests that a name be made available our In-Game Support staff will look into the request, depending on several factors we may or may not be able to free up the name.

If you have a name that you are hoping to use for the upcoming expansion make sure you keep it active, actually log into the character from time to time. :) If you do that it should remain available to you.
