What happens if I break my authenticator?

In the event the authenticator no longer functions properly Account Services should be able to assist you with removal. As Mourninglory stipulated, keep your serial number in a safe place. Since it sounds like you have the keychain authenticator this would be the number on the back of the device.

If by chance you happen to lose the authenticator and are unable to provide the serial number you will be asked to provide additional account details, such as the Secret Question Answer or authentication keys.
