I recently invited her to start playing WoW, and she made a trial account. She then decided that she liked the game, and we went to the store and bought the retail version of the basic WoW. When she added it to her battle.net account, she didn't link it to her trial, and instead made a new, second WoW account. However, not realizing she did this, she continued to play on the first account, which was still a trial. Recently, she went to log in and play on her first account, and her character, a draenei, was locked. Please note that the character, NOT the account, was locked. She decided to upgrade to Burning Crusade so she could continue to play as this character. Since her first account was still a trial, when she went to upgrade, what it told her to purchase was the basic WoW, not BC. She bought the basic WoW, thinking it was BC, and typed the code into her first WoW account. Discovering that she still could not log in as her draenei, she came to me for help.
Since the above explenation is rather confusing, I'll sum up what has happened. Currently, she has two active accounts. The first account was a trial, recently upgraded to the full basic version of WoW. The second account was created by purchasing a retail copy of basic WoW at the store. I know that she will probably have to call Billing tomorrow to get this fixed, but she is very angry about this and rather stubborn and it will be difficult to explain everything to her without her telling me to "forget it, it's too confusing." The reason I posted this situation is because I would like to ask one question: Is it possible to have the second account canceled and the cost of the game refunded to her or compensated in some other way? She doesn't want two active accounts, and her characters are on the first account. I feel that if I can tell her what sort of resolution to her problem to expect, she will be more inclined to call and try to have the problem worked out, instead of dropping the game out of anger at the situation.
