So the last time i played WoW was probably two or three years ago when 70 was cap. I decided that i wanted to play it again recently and went to look up my old WoW account. When i tried to log in, it took me to a battlenet page and since i had never used battlenet before i signed up for an account. From there i went under Merge your Wow account or something and typed in what i thought was my old account name and password, but then it says that the account has already been merged to another battlenet account!!!!

After that i just started a trial to check out the new contents then i realized trials dont show you new contents. So anyway now i have no access to my old characters and i really dont want to make new characters and grind them to max again.

I looked in the armory and my character is still level 70 and has all the same gears as i remembered so it seems that nobody has touched it. At this point i have no access to my old account and chars because i either do not remember the old account name/pw or somehow it's been merged to a battlenet account thats not mine. Any advice would help thanks

I'd recommend a call to Billing to try to get back into control of the old account.

If they can verify your identity on the phone, that's by far the quickest method. If they can't, they'll give you further instructions on how to reclaim and exactly what they need to do so.
