How do I add a Collector's Edition to B.Net?

So I just opened my Wrath of the Lich King Collector's Edition. A lot of fun stuff inside.. One being a CD key for the mini-pet frosty, and of course the actual game.

Now, my battle.net doesn't need a Wrath of the Lich King expansion, as it is fully upgraded. So I have a few questions:

Firstly, how do I add it to my battle.net in the first place?
Can I add it even though I don't need it?
Is there any way I can add it and 'save' it for later for another sub-account on my battle.net account?
If I add it, do my all of my toons on my battle.net account get it, or is just that one specific 'sub account' with the special CD key?

P.S.: I do plan on adding the other Collector's Editions to my accounts in the future, which includes Cataclysm, Vanilla, and Burning Crusade. For Cataclysm, is it best if I add it to my main account under my battle.net?

First of all, Forceful, congrats on finding a Collector’s Edition that has not been used yet!

While I am, shall we say, fashionably late to the party, I wanted to provide you with a “blue” response anyhow.

Since you were able to add the Collector’s Edition key to the account without fail, all of the characters currently on the account as well as any new characters made will receive the new pet. In the event you find an unused Burning Crusade or even classic World of Warcraft Collector’s Edition (good luck on this one) and would like to apply those keys to the account as well, you can do so the same way you added the Lich King key. The Collector’s Edition keys will simply override the standard edition keys.
