Why is your position reactive rather than being proactive?

I know you will say, resources, but isn't there some way you could be a little more proactive towards the lack of civility in this game.

I posted a suggestion in the suggestion forum, look for civility.

My suggestion gave just one example of how you could do this, but was taken as a specific complain, rather than as a example of how you could promote a better community.

I know this in not a forum for suggestions but rather in game issues.

So I will restate my question why not try to be a bit more proactive.

thanks for reading

Why is your position reactive rather than being proactive?

As stated by Arrestide, a colleague of mine, who I believe said it very well.
Q u o t e:

With millions of players in hundreds of servers and thousands of channels, it is impossible to manually monitor everywhere. To this end, World of Warcraft provides features to help players protect themselves and help us moderate accordingly:

- Profanity/obscenity filter to automatically intercept the most obvious offensive language
- The ability to report any player violating the rules
- Ignore functionality to remove individuals from appearing in chat

No single one of these, by itself, is always sufficient. It's critical to understand the rules we're enforcing, and where they apply. Relevant to this case, whisper chat between two consenting individuals, guildmates, etc is not an area we are out to pro-actively police. Any offensive in-game behavior needs to be reported in order to receive the right followup.

That does not mean that all involvement is entirely reactionary, as we do from time to time check out areas in the game but we do not wish to set up unrealistic expectations. If you see an issue that you believe violates our policies it is best to report it to ensure that it will be looked into and appropriate actions taken.

Now I would like to point out that our goal is to address obviously inappropriate behavior in this T for Teen rated game. We do not generally govern player behavior beyond this. There is no real requirement that players behave civilly towards one another. Do we believe that would make a much more enjoyable environment for all? Absolutely, but there is only so much we can do. We address what issues we are able to, if you believe changes to our policy and enforcement should be made I can only recommend that you post your feedback in the Suggestion forum.
