RAF Question about Upgrading

My girlfriend recently got into playing WoW, and after a few weeks of her NOT PLAYING ON MY ACCOUNT WHEN I SAW HER, and her getting a laptop, she wants to play. Now, I'm going to RAF her, but she can't really afford to buy the game/expansions right now (college ftl), and I have some spare cash, I want to buy it for her. Can I go to the store and buy a retail battle chest and WoTLK and upgrade a RAF account NOT digitally, just using the retail package?

As long as you create the account and upgrade the account you recruit of course you can. You should upgrade the account in question, DO NOT create a new account, because it won't be linked.
Also very important to remember.

the Battle.Net account should be her own email and the account should be set up with her legal name and contact information. If you put it in your own name, it can cause a good bit of headache down the road.
