Name is unavailable problem

I'm going to be transferring one of my characters from Illidan to Greymane sometime in the future. Unfortunately, I've already got a level 50-something warlock, Koschei, with the name I want that character to have, so I initiated a paid name change on him.

After I entered the new name, but before I completed the transaction, it occurred to me that I still wouldn't be able to give the transferred character Koschei's name because it gets locked for 90 days.

So, I canceled the name change.

However, now the name I entered as the "new" name is now unavailable. I checked, and there's no character with that name (checked by trying to add the character to my friends list, and not just the armory).

Did I manage to lock that name too?

Noraine, it is possible that the name you were requesting was already in use - but perhaps by a character below level 10 or one that has been inactive for an extended period of time.

What name were you trying obtain, and on which realm? I can check into that for you. =)

It does appear that the name was reserved for 2 hours upon you canceling your Name Change request. If it has been over 2 hours since you canceled the service, give it a try again. It should be available for use after that time has passed. =)
