Flying in Azeroth will not be possible until your account is upgraded to Cataclysm. Patch 4.0.1 is slated to be released prior to Cataclysm and will not include the changes to the old world or any content exclusive to Cataclysm. This patch will apply many systems, class, and user interface changes. It's very similar in nature to the major patches which preceded the releases of The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King.

Will I need the expansion to be able to experience the Cataclysm changes?
When the Cataclysm occurs, it will occur for all players, whether they have purchased the expansion or not--you will no longer be able to play in the original version of Kalimdor or the Eastern Kingdoms. However, certain features such as the new zones, new races, and new level cap will only be accessible to players who purchase the expansion.
So which is it?
Maybe the way I worded that was confusing. I said, "will not include changes to the old world or any content exclusive to Cataclysm."

I want to say yes, but I'm not in a position to confirm this right now. Either way, you won't be able to do much with the stat until Cataclysm is released.

a) Is ZG removed in this patch or is that during the Cataclysm expantion?
b) Is reforging in this patch?
c) is Archaelogy in this patch?
None of these changes are in 4.0.1.

All these talks of PTR builds, pre-Cata patches, and Cata have me a bit confused :)

I know theres no Cataclysm specific changes in this PTR, but what about special events? In the same way we tested Gnomer/Echo Isles in the previous PTR, is there gunna be any events that show up that is planned for 4.0.1?
