Character deleted with unopened mail...

So earlier today I had sent two heirloom items from an alt, to another alt that I had just created. (Hadn't even logged onto the alt receiving the mail)
Then I got on my main and sent another Heirloom item to the same alt, did a few random dungeons, etc etc, and logged off of my main. Later my friend decided to delete the alt which was going to recieve the mail, because he didn't think it was an important character (Keep in mind I hadn't even logged onto it yet)
When I found out I was FURIOUS. I was hoping the mail would just automaticly be sent back to my other characters since it was unopened. Is there anyway I could get these items tracked and recovered? I opened a ticket but it seems to be taking a very...verrrrrrrrrrrrrry long time. :\ Thanks!! :)

I suspect this is a lesson learned, but this is but one of a plethora of very good reasons why account sharing is not allowed - stuff happens :)

Your friend shouldn't be playing on - or know your account information. No one but you should.

You could petition on this character, in fact - I'd recommend that vs. waiting 30 days as a character that has never logged in could very well be purged before the email auto-returns.
