How could I have been hacked?

So earlier today I log on to realize that my account had been hacked. The got in and they sold EVERYTHING that had a value. The only thing they didn't sell was my tier and badge stuff. This has NEVER happend to me. I have never had an account comprised on anything. I have no idea how this happend. I run a virus scan every day and it doesn't find anything. I ran a complete system scan today on both computers I have WoW on. How did this happen? No viruses, Windows is up to date, I don't buy gold or ever give out my password. I don't know of any security vulnerabilities. And yes, I had a Mobile Authenticator. I had it removed about a month ago because I had to restore my phone and I lost it. I guess I will be putting it back on. If there are any other suggestions as to how this could have happend let me know so I can check everything and make sure I am secure.

Also, how long is the backup on petitions? I submitted one to get all of my stuff restored. Just wondering how long its going to take before I can get back into the game. Currently can't do anything.

I am not happy about this happening, but I am happy with the response time of Blizz to fix it. 11 million users and it took them less than a day to restore my stuff. Kudos Blizz!

That is great news, Nab. Our Investigation Team has been working diligently to get response times down. Hopefully our regular queues can follow suit. :)

Hacked is a little misleading since we have never been "hacked" or compromised ourselves. Beyond that, what would that warning be?

It is important to maintain your computer and account security, do not use the same password and log in information for multiple applications, be certain to use caution when downloading or installing programs and do not share your information with anyone. You should also keep an eye out for possible phishing attempts designed to get your log in information.
